Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Golem Defense Industries ("we," "our," or "us") built the Marksmen application to help users run realistic marksmanship training scenarios using a Bluetooth mesh network of laser-based devices. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the app, how it is used, and what rights you have over that information.

We are committed to being transparent about our data practices. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Account information (optional)

Marksmen can be used without an account to access free scenarios. If you choose to sign in to unlock the full feature set, we use Firebase Authentication (provided by Google) to manage your identity. At that point Firebase may collect your email address and a hashed credential. We do not store your password or payment information.

2b. Device location permission

Android requires apps to hold the ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission in order to scan for and connect to nearby Bluetooth devices. Marksmen requests this permission solely to discover and communicate with the Bluetooth mesh hardware used during training sessions.

We do not read, record, store, or transmit your physical location. The permission is a technical prerequisite imposed by the Android operating system for Bluetooth device discovery. No GPS coordinates or location history are ever collected by the app or sent to our servers.

2c. Logbook location data (optional, opt-in)

When recording a training session in the logbook, you may optionally choose to attach a location to that entry. This is entirely voluntary and off by default. If you opt in, the location is stored in your personal logbook and is only visible to you.

We may also use logbook location data in aggregated, anonymized form to understand broad geographic usage patterns — for example, which cities or regions our training systems are being used in. This aggregate data cannot be traced back to any individual user.

2d. Usage and diagnostic data

We may use Firebase services that automatically collect limited, anonymized diagnostic and performance data (for example, crash reports). This data does not contain personally identifiable information and is used solely to identify and fix technical issues in the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

Information collected through the app is used only for the following purposes:

• Authenticating your account and enabling access to paid features
• Enabling Bluetooth device discovery for training hardware
• Displaying your training logbook entries to you
• Generating anonymized, aggregated geographic statistics (only from opt-in logbook locations)
• Diagnosing crashes and improving app stability
• Complying with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Information processed through Firebase services is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not share your data with any other third parties except where required by law.

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account remains active. Diagnostic and crash data is retained by Firebase according to their own retention policies.

Logbook entries — including any attached location data — can be deleted directly from within the app at any time. You do not need to contact us to remove individual entries.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for optional data collection

7. Children's Privacy

Marksmen is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Security

We rely on Firebase's industry-standard security infrastructure to protect your account credentials. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect when the policy was last revised. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
